"You are a wonderful writer and an exact reporter. And besides, it was a pleasure to meet you."

                                                    -Norman Vincent Peale

"What is your magic? You seem to be able to capture ones inner self with no effort at all. I don't think I've given an interview before that captured the person inside. I've read and reread the article and I keep finding dimensions I didn't see before. You truly are a lovely lady and it was a total pleasure to have met you.

-Actress Linda Gray, star of "Dallas," now owner of LG Productions, Inc.

"You are a very intuitive, warm and excellent interviewer and writer. It was a pleasure to be in your capable hands."

-Merv Griffin

"Klein says thank you for telling it like it is...."

-Calvin Klein

"I have observed that those who know how to use words usually have fascinating lives. You have already achieved success as a journalist and columnist and I am sure future achievements lie ahead."

                                                                          -Henry Cabot Lodge

"There simply are no words to tell you how much I admire your skill...a truly professional job with all your wit and wisdom showing through. You're not only a good writer, you're a hellava nice lady."

                                                     -Helen Van Slyke, bestselling author

Marian Christy is the author of the critically acclaimed book Famous Women Speak Out. During her 26-year tenure as a Boston Globe syndicated columnist and editor, she received 30 prestigious national and international journalism awards(1965-1991). She made journalism history when she became the first and only three-time winner of the highly coveted University Missouri School of Journalism's J.C. Penney Award (1966-1968-1970).

Following an early retirement from The Boston Globe, she was the head writer and host of The Monitor Channel's Lifestyles With Marian Christy (Cable) television program.

Christy became a frequent contributor to The New York Times Syndicate and, in 1998, she was made the first media director of Boston University's Special Collections, assigned to negotiate and host black-tie press events, such as honoring Prince Albert of Monaco and Hollywood superstar Meryl Streep.

Christy joined The Boston Globe as Fashion Editor in 1965 after a distinguished career with the New York-based Fairchild Publications, writing major features for Women's Wear Daily. Her first Boston Globe assignments were in Europe, where her prize-winning editorials emanated from the major couture salons in Paris, Rome, Madrid, Barcelona, Athens, Dublin and London.

She completed elective studies at Harvard University's Extension School and earned a Journalism Certificate (Associate Degree) from Boston University (1965) by working days, full time, and attending evening classes. She was awarded a Distinguished Alumni Award for standards of excellence in journalism from Boston University's College of Communications (1985). Her papers, manuscripts and letters are collected by Boston University's Libraries, The Howard Gotlieb Archival Research Center.

In October 2003, Crane & Company, international paper makers, featured a month-long exhibit of 50 letters, many handwritten, to Christy by celebrities.

In 1987, she was given an Honorary Doctorate of Humane Letters from Franklin Pierce College, Rindge, New Hampshire.

Christy switched to celebrity journalism in 1981, and she single-handedly created the original "Conversations" column format: Oral history based on revealing, one-on-one talks with highly achieved famous people from a wide variety of fields. Christy's courageous and powerful pioneering work -- recording in a regular newspaper format the great voices of our time -- has resulted in her being called "the literary Oprah Winfrey." She is known for her amazing ability to penetrate the veneer of celebrity and get to the heart, mind and soul of her famous subjects. Coral Lansbury, the late Dean of Women at Rutgers University, referred to Christy as "the Boswell of our times."

Marian Christy is quoted extensively in numerous books, including...
